D.C. is about 210 miles away from me, and I'm currently using a bit of network traffic while I was calculating these results.

I may not have fancy schmancy university internet, but I think mine's fine for being mid grade home service.

Anything above 10 is decent. There's only been one server that I've seen hit above 2MBps which was adobe.com.

i downloaded itunes at 4.5MB's one day :\ pretty cool but my internet at home is like 1.5mb's

People with fiber are spoilt.. I'd love to have 10mb, but my lame government is only spending £1bn over 8 years to deploy fiber, instead of the £18bn it actually needs to do the job. Australia figured this out recently, lucky ozzy's.

I don't have fiber, regular old cable. Comcast just sucks at capping the speed of their lower packages. I pay for the "mid grade" option, as opposed to the high speed or cheapo stuff.
