YIKES .............. EARTHQUAKE

Trust me, you don't want to see a tornado up close and personal. Been there, done that. Thankfully they didn't come through where we lived but we were right in the middle of a cluster of them.

what quakes we've had around here have been very small. I've missed all of them so far. There is a major fault that runs under the west part of Tennessee that is way overdue for a major quake. The last one from is created Reelfoot Lake.

Last few i saw me and my dad got video of them. Last one that ripped through my neck of the woods i was at work so couldnt chase it. Im crazy like that :devil:
 
i was on a website linking what there sensors picked up. they picked up a 5.5/ 5.7 in some spots, i think its been pushed down to a 5.0 to supress public concern because all news sites are saying 5.0 but all the websites you can go onto that show what the instruments pick up say 5.5/5.7

I think that is what caused a lot of lakes in western KY, as it also travels through KY.
 
Grew up in California and been through plenty. Most notably the 1989 Loma Prieta (Bay bridge series quake) hitting 6.9 on the Richter Scale.

They can be real freaky but I got somewhat accustomed to them as we had a large string up in the Lake Tahoe area about 3 years ago.

Growing up in California.. I have felt none :tongue: well, nothing large. Just a small shake. But I live in a geographically dead (or so I like to call it) location...

Not really, We live on a very old mountain range that was scrubbed down by multiple glaciers. Unlike Cali, our fault is not a creating type fault, but where 2 plates are rubbing. Active, but only due too the others really far away.

5.7 was only just the initial report, but after analysis it it only was a 5.0. We live in old hard rock, so they feel bigger than they are.
From what I've looked at, the cdn geological dept uses like abunch of site to figure it out, so while 1 will be 5.7, the rest are lower... Infact one site had a 6.0.

Theres been over 350 quakes in canada this month, with 2 over 5

I felt it here in Cleveland, Ohio. Felt it at the top floor of an office building... freaked us out. We stayed in, but a lot of buildings were evacuated.
 
I would love to be in the street [or somewhere safe] during a quake. Would also like to see and tornado and stuff :D Im sure its very frightening if you are actually there but when you live in a country that at most gets a bit of wind and rain, it just looks exciting !

I think i am odd in that i like bad weather though. As soon as there is a thunder storm i am outside in a flash, i love the show :thumbsup:

Personally i would like to find a place where i can set up a beach chair and watch the destruction and much on some pop corn. Then again, I am some one that is currently hoping that all those 2012 predictions are correct as I would not want to miss the show.


Anyways, I am glad that no one here was hurt.
