Will your motherboard allow you to add to your Core Voltage? If you can up it to like 1.45~1.5V you should be able to hit 3.00ghz (which is the X2 6000+ at stock).
That is, if your mother board will allow you to.
You would need DDR2 clocked @ 1066mhz or higher ram in order to use Phenoms. But 130 for a 9600 and a Gigabyte board is like AMAZING!!
The 9600 probably won't hit 3.00ghz seeing how its B2 stepping and not B3. But it will handle PS2 Emulation much better since multiple cores seems to help with emulation.
So if you go with the Phenom, you'd need a new board, and new ram.

i can get a quad core phenom 9600 and a gigabyte board for 130 online, and PCIX cards are alot cheaper than AGP.
