I have a spaire notebook that I have been trying to bring back to life for some time now. It has a 200mhz processor and 128(maximum) ram. I have been desperatly searching for an os that will perform well on this system as well as be compatible with the drivers. I have tryed installing slackware, but couldnt get completly through the install (it just seemed to end process before loading x). I am also aware of dabian but havnt givin that install a shot yet. Just to add, im a newb at linux and dont have any experience with gui.
does anyone have any suggestions on what os would work best for me?

go there, click on laptops/notebooks and search for your particular model, and see what others have done

which linux does NOT matter, they all use and have available all the same software----only thing that changes from one distro to the next is which precompiled binaries are bundled together, which package management system they use if at all, and the choice of sysV or bsd style init scripts
