Why is everyone scared of socialism? There has always been a hint of it in the US. Welfare? Sound familiar. Social Security? Socialism is not necessarily a bad thing. I think the best thing for the US right now may be to plan how to get out of a depression rather than a recession. The stimulus package was a risky call, and Obama is falling short of my expectations. Maybe it was just oratory. However, I do hope that it will get better after it gets worse like he is saying. More tension on the country and on the government will do nothing but distract everyone from their goals. I don't have all the details on this mortgage thing, but I definitely don't like the sounds of it. Yes, I said that socialism may not be a bad thing, but forcing others to pay the neighbor's mortgages isn't cool (if this is what the fuss is all about). If the US goes into a depression, which is likely, then the rest of the world will probably follow (the US has a 25% stake in the world's imports), with the exception of countries able to self-sustain (in this case my home country would definitely have an edge).
