It appears that Windows 10 update notifications are coming through to people in the taskbar/system icon tray asking if you'd like to reserve a copy.
If you're one of the people that would like to disable it:
Windows 7:
1. Right-click the task bar
2. Click "Properties"
3. Click the "Customize..." button in the Notification Area section
4. The item in question is titled GWX Get Windows 10. Change the Behavior to "Hide icon and notifications"
Windows 8.1:
1. In the task bar, the left-most notification icon is an upward arrow. Click it.
2. Click "Customize..."
3. The item in question is titled GWX Get Windows 10. Change the Behavior to "Hide icon and notifications"
Alternatively, uninstall the following Windows Update:
KB3035583
KB2990214
-------------------------------------------
To cancel your reservation:
Right click on the Get Windows 10 App or Windows icon located in right end of the taskbar.
Select “Check your upgrade statusâ€
Select “Cancel reservationâ€
