Laptop Battery/AC Adapter Help *Urgent*

Lately whenever i'm on my computer (with the AC adapter plugged in), the symbol for the battery suddenly pops up. So I reconnect the adapter to the back of the computer, then once again every few seconds to minutes the battery symbol is there. So all the time I have to plug it back in.

The light is on the AC adapter..

I have a COMPAQ R3000 series.

It's regular. It's just on AC, but the battery also charges

Could be a short in the adapter's cable. I had one that would do that sometimes. Eventually it just stopped working all together.
