Interesting since they already have google video

exactly why it would be a good reason for Google to purchase YouTube. then they have a monopoly on this kind of video service.

there was talk of an OS called GoOS (Google OS) that would be based on Google's modified Linux distro run on their servers. the rumours said it would be a minimal installer that downloaded any components you wanted for it during the install. i think it was all just rumour though.

Personally, i'm hoping that Google does buy YouTube in hopes that Google stock will either increase in worth, or split.
