I know that there are printer servers that will go from usb to ethernet. Someone I know says that you don't need a print server. If you get a usb to ethernet adapter you can set up printers on many different computers on the same network. Is there any true to this or do I need a print server of some.

I highly doubt that would work. The adapter would need to be registered with the printer as a network interface, which requires drivers, which aren't available for the firmware running the printer.

Why reinvent the wheel?

USB dongle = $9.95
Print server = $19.95

I would rather plug the print server in, have it work immediately. It's worth another ten dollars to not waste hundreds of dollars worth of my time figuring out something that's not going to work.
