Hey I have done ipconfig/renew and it does not fix the problem...i dont know if it has something to do with the signing on with verizon and dialing up.....like it requires a username and pass and when the router is in the dialup does not work...As for my task manager no i do not see win32 i see rundll32.exe though

I wanted to see what IP it gives her when shes hooked up to just the modem.

sorry for the late response but that is what her PC says with just the modem involved...That stuff does not look right...lemme know what you think and sorry for slow response i was busy

can you install the router onto the network so that we can verify that

1. the router is getting an IP address from the ISP.
2. the host is getting an IP address from ther router via DHCP.

Also, what model Linksys router is it, and what firmware is it running?

So she has a connection that she double clicks to get on the internet?

It should have a user name and password that has to be entered into the router to be able to use it.

yeah she has a linksys BEFW11SF and when the router is plugged in I get nothing but 0's for the ip address and yes she does have to login to use the internet when the modem is directly plugged to the PC....so what settings would she need to do to the router

she would need to pick connection type pppoe

and enter the user name and password in the router.

and there should be a checkbox somewhere in there to auto reconnect or keep connection alive or something like that.
