Did anyone else notice he randomly shifted his left drumstick from a matched grip to a traditional one somewhere just before 7:00...and then back shortly afterwards?

I don't know, I'm not a drummer, maybe that's more common practice than I think, but I don't think I've noted anyone else do that before...

The kid is awesome. I can do almost everything he can do w/ a steady set and some practice. It would take like a month or 2 months for me to get it down good enough to sound liek that almost. I noticed he does alot of the same licks alot which gets kinda boring. I guess the only real amazing part is his age. One more thing, he owned me on playing traditional on the set. Something i havent bothered w/ but its really difficult. ^^ yea its real difficult and probably why he only did it for a couple of seconds. But what he did is way more than i could ever do traditional. I can only play really simple beats traditional and play marching and regular concert snare traditional.
