So, my cousin sent me an e-mail all excited about being a video game tester. He saw the post on binghamton.craigslist.com - though I can't find it.

To prospective game tester:

Hello and welcome. My name is Tad, I and would like
introduce you to one of the ONLY opportunities to be
paid to play video games. We are one of maybe
2 or 3 similar companies in our field, because its
simply so hard to get reliable testers who give honest
feedback and wont just run off with all of our beta or
unreleased xbox, ps2, psp, nintendo, etc; games....all
which can be expensive & time consuming. WE ARE
LOOKING FOR HONEST WORKERS...WHO WILL RETURN OUR WORK.
You will be able to make an amazing collection of
unreleased games in a matter of no time (i have 100s
of x box games) on top of being paid. The only games
that must be returned are ones that are requested back
by the maker, (which means the game probably wont be
released).

If you think you are qualified, and are at least 15
years of age or older...I invite you to check out our
website. - http://www.freewebs.com/localgametester (we
are just using this one to keep tabs on local
gamers....we have a stats counter)

AFTER YOU LOOK AT THE WEBSITE...GO TO GOOGLE.COM AND
SEARCH VIDEO GAME TESTERS. gametesterguide is the
highest ranked, google sponsored link, you can also
find reviews about our website from there. We are also
clickbank approved. (an online standard for thousands
of internet businesses) SO YOU CAN TRUST US!!! IF YOU
FEEL YOU CANT...STOP NOW!!!

Our service is excellent towards our testers and game
makers, and we are investing our money to make an
almost IMPOSSIBLE idea like this work. The reason WE
can do this is because the game companies I work with
trust my company with their newly released products.
(which can be dangerous if a new innovative game is
coming out) We hold their products to extreme secrecy
until they are finally released, and our testers
should too. This program is here for everyone, and has
given a lot of chances to the right people. On top all
the gaming material, we provide you with information
about real video game companies, and the correct
contact info to get a shot a working for them. I was
in those shoes at one point, and got my big break from
someone...so its all gotta start somewhere! We also
will supply you with free access to freegamedownloadz
, because we need you to be able to compare with ANY
POSSIBLE game in the past. (which they have)

If you feel that this program is for you, all sign up
info is on the website. (we are not web design pro's,
so neither is our website) Again, please don't use
this as a way to collect new, unreleased games...but
as a way to give your feedback before the game comes
out. This program won't continue to work unless
everyone works together. Thanks and good luck!

I'm pretty confident this is a scam, but he won't believe me.

Anyone willing to back me up on this?

Doesnt look scammy.

When i was around 8 years old, i remember these kids at school getting paid about $100 per week to test SEGA games, such as Sonic, Earthworm Jim, Racing, etc

The problem about Video game testing - You have to test every game, from Oblivion to Barbie Dream House, and you need to be pretty good at gaming..

Sounds like a scam to me. Last I checked to be an actual video game tester they still required a bachelors degree and wanted you to know coding. That way when you find a problem with the game you are able to communicate with the coder and find the problem quicker than just saying "Yo dude, I dont know whats happening, it's just F'ing up at this part"

They do have younger people test games every now and then to see if the current generation would like that game and how they would react to it. They also take ideas from younger testers and add it into games to make them sell better to the younger kids. Like 7-14 year olds.

ya they have different types of video game testers.. some just to find bugs, some to see how balanced games are.. and some like others mentioned to see how appealing it is to particular audiences..

Tbh. Freewebs site says it all for me. It isn't expensive to get a web host and domain. :(
