SSH tunneling

I have recently taken up the concern about securing my passwords when using open wireless networks. I looked into SSH tunneling and it seems like a really good idea. Though I wouldn't know where to start. I am wondering if there is a free SSH service (or extremely cheap) out there somewhere that allows SSH tunneling.

To use an SSH tunnel you have to have somewhere to tunnel to that will accept your SSH session and establish the tunnel. So you would need to setup an SSH server on whatever machines you are planning on connecting to remotely. OpenSSH is the place to start for that.
