Random Chit Chat

Which Ryzen 5 CPU? There's a first generation and second generation. I got an R5-2600 (second generation).

I heard that the third generation is coming out.

I was looking for most bang for buck. Found a 2gen I7 3770K 3.5 ivy bridge for 75.00 bucks, a ASUS P8B75-M/CSM LGA 1155 B75 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 microATX Motherboard w/IO for 75.00, For ram G.SKILL Ripjaws 16GB (4x 4GB) PC3-8500 F3-8500CL7Q-16GBRL 20.00 and I have everything else i need!

You guys sure you need so much power? Even my i5 750 with 8GB DDR3 1333 is holding up very well if I don't go AAA games at high FPS or heavy encoding/editing/compiling/compressing/etc.

If I were you, I'd get a completes setup/box of older mid-range or high-end setups. They go cheap online or hardware stores as I heard. Clean them up and you're good to go.

If i can get the new board to work right, i will have a fairly fast 4 core computer with 8 gigs of ddr2 1066mhz ram. Its old but its fast enough for me anyway.

That i7-3770K is an unlocked 3rd gen Ivy Bridge CPU. The 2nd gen is a Sandy Bridge like my i3-2105. My i5-3570 is a 3rd gen.

That i7-3770K was a very popular CPU back then.

Dunno. Gotta do the test. And I forgot that when I updated the BIOS, settings reverted back to defaults. Gotta do the OC'ing again. This means stress test to make sure the new BIOS version can run the OC. This takes time. That stupid defective video card made me do this stupid flashing that I never needed. Darn defective Gigabyte video card. Damn it :banghead:
