PSP 9 new user needs help...transparent background

Hey guys,


I just purchased PSP9 and need help with the following:


I want to make a new file, write something out, and have it appear on a transparent background, so when I place it on a website, it doesn't come with the white backdrop. I can't, fo rthe life of me, figure out how. I make a new file with a transparent background, but it saves with white. ANy ideas/tips/suggestions?

You have to save it as a GIF. JPEG format does not support transparency

Its that simple? Oh man...it can't be that simple...

Well, that didn't work either, so its back to square one. It did allow me to import a file onto another file as a transparent image, with no background, but even when I save it as a .gif, it still loads up on my website with the color background.

ANyone else have any ideas? And thanks for trying turtile...I do appreciate it.

someone i know had this problem but i managed to sort it out by going to

Image > Mode > RGB

Im pretty sure it was RGB anyway. Then save as a gif and see if that works. If it doesnt it could be Indexed instead of RGB.
