need help with networking

i dont know y this is so difficult... i am clueless..... what do i do? the xp can see the 2000 fine so we need to get the 2000 to see the xp.... i dont have a clue

You can try defaulting the Workgroup back to "WORKGROUP". No other modifications will need to be made with this change.

Have you disabled the XP windows firewall and disabled any other Anti Virus or 3rd party Firewalls?

Even if you have disabled them through the desktop, still check the task manager to make sure nothing is running in the background.

So, you can ping the XP box from the W2k box.
You can connect and be prompted for login.
User accounts have been created on both machines that are currently in the Administrative group.
No Firewalls or Antivirus running at this time.

Xp Machine can connect no problem to the W2k machine?

Are you connecting via Network places? Or Run Line?

i think network places... i dont know what a run line is.. btw the computers are connected to the net via a hub

Hubs need DCC+ for File sharing...

You need a Router for simple file sharing.

we have a hub... no router so wut do i do?

i also have a computer with windows 98 and the xp can access that, but it can't access the xp... the 2000 and the 98 can access each other perfectly..
