Lost Passwords

I've lost a password for a user account on XP. I can't access the user accounts section and most of the OS is fuck3d. My problem is that I never had a clue what my brothers password was but my mum wants his stuff on a disc before I replace the OS.

Is there anything that I could do to retrieve the password?

(My brother has left home and we don't know when he'll be back-we have a dodgy OS that won't install some software as some files are missing files)

Reset the BIOS take out the CMOS battery which resets the password so there wont be a pw.
