My dad wants to install ubuntu on his lappy however I am wondering whether I can partition his hard drive in two, however doing this but not effecting his Vista installation? I wouldn't of thought this was possible but I'm hoping I'm wrong

GParted can shrink the Vista Drive without affecting the system at all.

I would only give 10gb to ubuntu until he want's to use it more.

It's done, I had problems installing at first cos I hadn't made a swap partition

However I'm having problems with the bluetooth and I posted a thread over in the Linux section for you to enjoy...

While that is right, windows puts some files at the end of the drive. Like the pagefile and some others as well.

So going thru the Ubuntu CD without first shrinking your drive down will cause you issues once you get back into Windows.
