Is there a way to prioritize bandwidth useage?

I have a home computer hooked to a Verizon dsl modem via Ethernet cable. My son uses the Wifi from the modem to play and download games on his laptop and Xbox. I wonder if there is a way to make the modem make the home computer a priority on downloads and internet surfing first and then the Wifi access second. I'd rather make him wait for internet access than me.

If your router has QoS (Quality of Service) functionality then you can set options to prioritize bandwidth to IP's/MAC's on your network.
