Intel gamers!

the AMD Hypertransport is a massive improvement on memory handeling basically....it's been proven to be quite superior to intels memory controller....but as been said, hyperthreading and hypertransport are WAY different.

The transport refers to data in terms of memory, whereas for intels the threading refers to...likes been said...multiple threads like a dual core CPU that can handle two 'threads' <-- keyword there of data.

AMD are indeed better at gaming, but they are becoming better and better at multitasking as well....as it is my computer can handle all that I need and then some since I don't plan on rendering 3D files while burning a dvd, while looking at porn while encoding music
 
I held an Asus A8V for a couple days.

Really a POS compared to the Abit, MSI, and Giga-Byte I held afterword.

PS- the only reason I had it for a couple of days is because the couple days the store was not open to take a return.

OK OK. Point taken. But do they both improve multi-tasking performance? Because that is what I was getting at (though i realize the difference between memory and processor capabilities)

Hyperthreading was meant to improve multi-tasking whereas AMD's hypertransport was meant to be an overall system boost which it does quite nicely because it basically doubled the normal memory bandwidth....so basically it just became an all around better processing machine...it still technically lagged behind Intel in terms of multitasking, but also it doesn't take much of an OC on the AMD for it to catch up and then perform equally as good in some areas.

The new dual cores however....that's a whole other story.....AMD's dual cores were able to whoop up on the latest Intel dual cores in terms of multi-tasking, but this means they weren't meant for gaming like the FX-55 is.....

Like I said, for my needs, the AMD is an awesome chip and a great bang for the buck.....I get all the performance I need out of games, and things like photoshop as well which is probably the most intensive program I use.....considering the most 'multitasking' I do is photoshop and listening to Winamp the CPU for me is good :D

Like I said, if you REALLY want to encode dvds or music, while photoshopping, while rendering 3d movies and not playing many games then Intel is for you
 
Ive been editing videos in Adobe After Effects, which is a pretty intensive vid editing program while burning a CD in iTunes and listening to music. No slowups for me
 
Cool beans. I appreciate you guys responding without flaming me. I just learned something new today!!! I realize I was being a little ignorant and could have easily learned those fact by myself, but thanks for the info!

Hypertransport, for lack of a better way to describe it, is moving things faster along the same thread, making single applications, such as games, faster.

It does not simulate Dual cores.

this is a better explaination of HT.

HT tricks windows by saying there is 2 cpus when infact there is only one.

So windows sends 2 threads to the CPU, and then the built in logic takes over and acts like a traffic cop at an intersection....... It stops 1 thread and lets the other thread execute a little bit, than it stops the other thread and lets the other one execute, so on and soo forth.
