I'm a musician, not a tech guy. But now I need tech advice on upgrading my comp so that it can handle real time audio samples. (my 5 yr old Dell isn't really cutting it) I'm using sibelius 5 and Konkakt2 for most of my work.
I'm not sure what's the best way to go...buying a pre assembled pc, or having one built? Here are some specs I'm looking for:
-intel core2duo E6600 (or something with a similar performance)
-windows xp pro (isn't there a way to tweak it so it can make use of more than 2 GB of RAM?) (or would windows vista be better for this?)
-3-4 GB of RAM
-some sort of entry-level pro soundcard (i don't know much about these)
I won't use this computer for gaming at all, so i don't need killer graphics. Any recommendations?
my current setup:
Dell Dimensions 2350
Intel Celeron 1.7GHz
1GB RAM
Windows XP pro, Service Pack 2
