a decent network switch

Finally moved into my house after all the rehab and have ethernet cable running through walls but have not finished it all as of yet, plan to run a cable from the modem to a switch in the basement with all the wires connected from there but need a decent but cheap switch for now, (the cheaper the better) Even if it needs to be replaced in a year it's fine, But as of now I am out of money and so much more to spend getting this house finished up so if anyone knows of a cheap switch that actually works well it would be great, Right now I have 4 wall connections to hook up to it, but may put more so I need at least 4 but 6 would be ideal.
