for me overclocking your card is killing your card
That is always a possibility. When you overclock, anything could happen, there could even be a fire. When you modify settings that are not covered by a manufacturer, the responsibility is yours.
However, if you overclock correctly, there rarely is a problem and you usually have a warning before anything happens.
A proper overclock takes a slow and gradual approach with stability tests.
When people break hardware with overclocking it is usually a rushed overclock, or a very extreme overclock/suicide run.
