4 x 7800 GTX's in SLI!

yeah i know, but some people use high end sound cards.

The point i was making is there isnt any room to put other expansion cards in after 4 GPU's are put in.

but as long as the mobo has everything like SATA, RAID, USB, Firewire, decent sound it should be ok having 4 PCI-E slots.

normal PCI is getting less used nowadays. in a few years they may not even make motherboards with PCI

no because the pci-e speed isnt fully utilised yet.

that's only the bandwith. how much data that can go to each card at once. even the 7800's don't use the full PCI-E 8x bandwith.
what determines the speed of the card is the card's GPU (graphical processing unit), memory size (you'll want it to have plenty, although too much can slow it down), the number of pipelines the GPU has (more = faster), how long the pipelines are (shorter = faster), the clock speeds (higher = faster), how hot it is, and a number of other things.
