Hi all
I have set up port forwarding for when I am hard-wired into my router. However, when wireless, my PC automatically uses a different IP address, therefore bypassing the port forwarding.
I can't set up a second virtual server for the same port as it conflicts.
I am apprehensive to set up...
Hi all
I'm trying to set up a D-Link DK T-140 wireless router with my Virgin Broadband service and I'm having a couple of problems at the end of the process. I'm using Vista on a new laptop.
For some reason, the router can't seem to find the outside world. After troubleshooting, I know that my...
I have a problem where I can't connect to some networks, but to others I can. I have a wireless connection at home that I connect to absolutely fine - never had any problems. Have also connected to some other wireless networks fine. However, some (particularly my dad's Sky wireless network at...
Ah, i see. So i already have the modem bit installed by the cable guys. Any suggestions on what kit to get?
How will I know if it's compatible? Will it show the connections in the details of the product?
Thanks very much for your help.
Hi all
I've got a wireless router that i used to use in my old flat and it had a cable from my telephone point (normal broadband through a phone line) into the back of my router.
However, now I have moved flats and I have broadband provided by cable. Now the connection is a normal ethernet...
Hi
The advantage of building your site first before buying your hosting package is that, if your hosting package is for a fixed length of time (for example 2 years) then you are eating into your 2 year period with nothing on the site until you have built it. If this takes you a few months, then...
I have created a flash movie which is an image gallery that fades/scrolls between a set of images. However, when I play it, or import it into a webpage, the actual animated part is kind of "off the page" as in most of it has dissapeared off the bottom right hand corner of the document.
I can't...
Hi all
I have a desktop at home and have recently purchased a laptop in addition. I have a printer hooked up to my desktop and wondered if it is possible to print from my laptop on it via the wireless connection.
I have installed a wireless router and have hardwired the desktop into the back...
Not strictly a Windows question, but couldn't find a more suitable section to post in.
I have just purchased a new laptop which is running XP Home. It has an 80gb hard drive that has been partitioned into C: and D: and the split is 50/50 size-wise. It appears that there is no data on D: and all...
Originally I tried booting it from the XP CD, however I get a message saying that the CD is not bootable. But I know it is because I try it in my desktop and it works.
So then i followed the advice above and downloaded a windows 98 boot disk (floppy) which works and I then run fdisk fromit and...
Thanks Warez. However, as I said above, when I try that it says "Format not supported on drive C: Format terminated"
The drive is already in NTFS format.
It's running XP sp2. Is this going to make a difference? I know there are loads of problems with SP2.
Thanks for the offer Johnny. However, I don't know where you are based, but i'm in the UK. Don't want you calling distance.
Ok, I managed to get the fdisk thing to work. I deleted the non-dos partition and then created a new one.
I rebooted and tried to format the C: drive using "format C...
The only option that works is "4" - delete non DOS partition. I do that and then create a new partition and then it boots XP and starts "recovering orphaned" files. I never knew I was such a bad father!!!
Man I wish I knew more about comuters.
HELP!!!!
