Photoshop CS Will Only Save As .PSD

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS 8.0 and for some reason, when I go to save a file as a JPEG or GIF or any other file format, it always saves it as a .PSD file. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

ROFL I'm aware of that. Once I go there and try to save as a JPEG, it will automatically save it as a .PSD file.

have you tried reinstalling PS CS?

do you mean you want it to default save as a jpg or another format so you dont have to switch it from psd or nothing shows up at all?? is your cs upgraded, or hacked?

No, when I try to save an image that I have created as a .PSD file, PS will just save it as a PSD file rather than a JPEG file like I told it to.

Yes, and it's annoying as hell...That's why *I* use Corel Draw and PSP and just plain old Paint. Liz

I'm not looking for alternatives to PS...I'm looking for a way to save my image as a JPEG...
