Trying to get my Opitical Audio to work

I bought a new Denon AVR-391 receiver to hook my Comp, 360, and Ps3 into, got the settings right so that for the computer it will use the HDMI for video and the Optical Audio port for sound, but Im not getting any sound.

Ive never used Optical Audio in my life so this could easily just be a dumb question. I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 mother board and a HIS Radeon HD6850 graphics card. HDMI through the card and Optical through the mobo.

Do I need updated drivers or is there simply a setting I need to get to on my comp to let the sound come out of the Optical Audio port?

Start Orb > Control Panel > Sound > Set your sound output via Optical. Note, Win7 and Vista only support one output at a time natively.... Make sure your sending a signal your receiver can also understand, you will need to check the specs of it...
