Sad Ipod Icon Help??

Everytime I turn on my ipod the sad ipod icon comes up and then it turns off. I'm thinking the hard drive is dead but im not sure. Can someone please help me?

no but seriously, do you live near an apple store? theres one in my mall and they replaced my ipod no questions asked. it was almost weird. (you could totally get away with buying a used one on ebay, dunking it in water and bringing it to the store for a new one.)

No need to take it to an Apple store, just restore it using their program.

but it says it could be a hardware problem, if somthings broken you cantjust "restore" it.
