Need Help ! MP3 player not recognized

I just got a Creative Zen MP3 player. I installl the software, insert it and its recognized - cool. But only for 10 or 15 seconds..

I've done pretty much everything, i've reinstalled drivers, gone into rededit and changed USB permissions, i've tried another usb port, i've download SM Bus drivers for my P35 chipset from intel, i've even flashed the bios with a new update.

I just get this every time i look for Creative Zen in device manager..

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Which supposedly means there the wrong drivers, or there arn't any. But then it wouldn't of worked in the first place.

Someone help me it's driving me crazy

Do you have Windows Media Player 11 installed?

It's WMP11 that's the problem

What Creative model do you have?

The MP3 player ? It's just called Creative Zen 2GB.

Im on Windows XP. But i'll try.

Doubt it though, if i disable the driver and then scan for new hardware under devices i can keep getting it to work for a few a seconds.

Creative has a issue with WMP11. This is not the first i have heard of it.

There is a similar issue posted there. Even a rollback hasnt help him. So i dont know.

It also won't use WMP9, so 10 it is. Except when i tried installing it it said it wouldnt install on this version of windows.. wtf ?

That happened to me. I just used another computer, and then got XP pro. Now it works. Dunno why.


You do have your USB drivers up to date?
