Hey, so I made an All In One Vista.ISO but it turns out the file is too big. 4.6Gb on a 4.7Gb disk.. How can I split the .iso and burn half and half on two seperate dvds and make them bootable, like using disk one then inserting disk two..
There is a margin the disk is prohibited to, it is to protect the laser from burning past the disk face, sub chanel data takes up unreported space. ( not sure on that last)been a while sinse I've used discs.
I have used DVD shrink on video's that are too large to fit on a dvd disk and every one of them shrink to 4.35 gb's. I think that's the max you can burn onto a dvd disk
You can try a dual layer dvd disk if you have a DL burner. Many dvd burners have the capacity to burn a dl dvd, you'll need to check the burners specs first. That should get you better than 8gb's
You could always just use a USB stick. It is a little more complicated (use diskpart on windows vista, 7 and 8 and rufus on xp) but not that hard. Plus once you have the USB it is more convienient and faster than the traditional optical alternatives.
