how to start service on another computer?

is there a way to start a service on a lan computer?

bring up mmc, add the services snapin, point it to the remote pc, start your service.

or install telnet console access on the remote pc, connect to the remote pc via telnet, and run net start *service*.

or you could utilize a remote desktop solution

i believe i have seen apps that will start services on remote machines but i cant find them now.

You can simply choose Computer Management (by right clicking the "My Computer" icon and select Manage). Select the Remote machine you wish to start/stop services on.
