what do you think it would take to get in the field of designing and making prototypes of videocards, and cpus and stuff? what would the profession be called, and what might be a good collage for it?

It would take going to MIT or something similar. I guess it would be an engineer of some sort, not sure the exact title.

You could check if any of the manufactures are putting on scholareships. However this is some thing that you might want to be completing a course or two first before they will consider you.

My sister did some time via CISCO a few years back. Mind you in the end she graduated, but desided to enter a totally different frield.
