DVI monitor to hdmi

Hi all.

I recently picked up the original nintendo wii but unfortunately have no TV only a computer monitor. My thinking was that I could use a DVI to HDMI cable and use the wii2hdmi upscaler in order to play. Could anyone tell me if that would work? and also how would i go about connecting my speakers to the wii if possible
