Windows interface freezing

My laptops having this weird problem; when it starts up, the windows interface (like the start menu, and the other stuff at the bottom, randomly freezes. This doesn't happen in safe mode.

Any ideas what happening?

It probably isn't finished loading Windows. Do you give it about 3-5 minutes after you press the power butoon and sign in before you try to use the machine?

Yeah I do. I make sure that its fully loaded before starting anything.

Oh yeah, this happened after I removed the "Vista Internet Security 2011" virus on it. I followed the instructions at Remove Vista Antimalware 2011 and Win 7 Antispyware 2011 name changing rogue (Uninstall Guide). After I removed it, this happened.

Then you still have traces of the infection on your machine. They dont load in safe mode which is why it doesnt happen in safe mode and it does in normal mode where they do load.

So how do I get rid of it? I tried to follow the instructions on Spyware Asylum, and the first step is to run combofix. But, if I click combofix in normal mode, then it doesnt run. And if I try to use it in safe mode, it says that I dont have administrator permission.

Right click on Combofix and select Run as Admin. It will then run in Safe Mode.
