What is it about WoW that makes so many people addicted to it?

LOL!!!!

"My life was great. Then some schlemiel down at work convinced me to play WoW again"

Been there. Done that. So true.

I think WoW is a great game in almost every aspect and I believe it is so addictive because of many reasons such as the fact that it is very user friendly, theres tons of things to do, I mean, the leveling up to the maximum level for one thing is the main goal but after that, theres heroics, gearing up, becoming more powerful, PvPing, PvEing, going around with guildies, to raids, to dungeons, leveling up professions, farming gold for big purchases etc.. It just never ends.

Thats why after one point you just have to stop.
I quit wow a few months ago but after the WoTLK was released I was tempted back. However now that I've achieved many goals the time is near and I will quit once and for all soon! However it is a great game in many ways and I recommend it to anyone who dares to risk their social lives :p

Lol X)

WoW is so **** time draining lol. I started playing and my buddy keeps switching servers on me :(

My highest character is a level 13 human paladin.

I've played on and off since Nov. 2005 and I raided all of the 40 man instances back in the day. Yep I used to be a hard core raider going on 4-5 times a week to raid and play. I quit WoW when BC came out and started playing it I suppose 8 months after the expo came out. You didn't have to be in a hard core raiding guild to gear up your items and only playing 2-3 times a week I was able to build up gear on 3 characters (mostly pvp gear).

I quit again when WoTLK came out but just the other day I bought the expo off of ebay and it looks like I'll be playing it again. The big reasons I've always quit after an expo comes out is due to the fact your gear becomes outdated so fast with the new level cap and gear that comes out.

I'm a big fan of blizzard... I own Diablo, Diablo 2 and the expo, and WC3 and WC3 the Frozen Throne, and SC and the SC expo. I'm personally into the game for the advancement of the Warcraft story. I decided mainly to buy WoTLK to see Arthas dead and how the story has come along. Of course people I raided with back in 2005 are still playing and it will be awesome to play with them again. I've gained life long friends playing wow and even though I've never meet some of them personally I can call them friends. It's kind of like reading a good book. I do enjoy reading too.

Edit* I also only payed $4.10 for the game off of Ebay. I got 2 free $10 ebay gift cards form a certain free gaming gear website. Not a bad deal.

I hate it how some people do realise that for some people starting over with a new toon on another server is a big deal for them.

You people need help.

My WoW recovery clinic is open for business.

Nah, I play the game pretty hard core sometimes when I am home, but I work on the road so I'm gone weeks at a time and only come home for just a short time so it's not like I get to take the game with me, though I'd like to.

You guys are missing a very important point of why WoW is addicting.

I pose this question, what does WoW and Diablo have in common?

Gear. Equipment. Loot. Whatever you call it. It's almost akin to casino slots phenomenon,
you grind a little, some gear drops, you grind a little more, better gear drops.

Pretty soon you are grinding 24/7, neglecting everything else in the world, for that
lucky 1 in 1000 chance to get that uber epix gear of annihilation.
