vista and xp dvd help

i was at my friends house and i copied some files to a dvd+r and changed the settings so it would be compatable with my xp but my system wont recognize it

How descriptive.

What kind of files were they? Did you just burn them as a data disc? Did you burn it as an actual DVD movie by re-encoding it? Are they video files just not playing? Do you have a codec pack installed (such as K-Lite)?

theyre game data files i put the cd in, it formatted (i pressed the lowest one, which it said it was windows ME and xp compatable),and it burned

what kind of dvd drive do you have on your xp machine?

You have been able to read this disk in other computers just not yours?

works on my moms vista

edit: ill just transter them from hers to mine thru a connection
