Sorry, got busy and haven't been back on the forums. That was my next call, obviously, since the fan wasn't the cause though in my experience it's usually fans dying out first.

Can hear the noise clearly with a pair of decent earphones. If you're entirely sure that it's the power supply making the noise, then get a new one. Make sure it's not:
A) The speakers (mine make a buzzing noise under load as I'm guessing the shielding is ****e on motherboard-header cable)
B) The graphics card - My old GTX280 made a similar noise under load
