Hello,

A registry value controls whether you can change the homepage URL in IE...

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/537/

The DWORD value is HomePage at both the User and System keys:

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
Control Panel]

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
Control Panel]

If you're squirmish about altering registry values manually, then download this free spyware and adware blocking tool called SpywareBlaster from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html, install and run it.

...We're not interested in the anti Spyware functionality of the program, but another neat feature in the program, which allows you to enable and disable the Homepage setting in Internet Explorer...

...Simply click on Tools on the left, then Misc. IE Settings at the top. You can then check or uncheck the box shown to enable or disable the homepage setting in IE.

A faster way to do it is to go to the registry, then go to edit, type in start page, then click find, once it finds it, change the value for start page in the right hand pane to whatever you want. If it changes back you have a spyware issue, you should then go thru my guide
