How good is the 6600GT?

just wondering... how's the X700pro card? it uses GDDR3... its about CAD$50 cheaper than the 6600GT. and also a comment on the X600..is it really crappy? how well can it run HL2? i know this is unrelated to the topic at hand... but it seems like the discussion is over, eVGA 6600GT wins.

The X700Pro can't run anything except HL2 at half-decent framerates. the X600 is the 9600 core on stereroids. neither of them are worth a buck compared to the 6600GT which has SM 3.0 and also uses GDDR3 memory.

If you are looking for an AGP card, I suggest you shell out another 20-30 bucks and get the vanilla 6800. It'll give better performance than the 6600GT for a little extra cash and is a good card for the money.

The 6600GT is a good card nonetheless though

Great price for that 6800, and eVGA is a great company. I am actually considering buying that 6800 instead of that 6600GT, too good of a price to pass up.

go for the vanilla 6800. thats what I wnt for, and it cost $195 with shipping. thats pretty damn good considering the MSRP is $300. I love my 6800 alot, i can play Far Cry maxed at 1280x1024 2xAA 4xAF no problem, 50-60fps. Doom 3 perfomance is through the roof too. the only gripe I have about it is that HL2 performance is less than stellar, 1024x760 2xAA (sometimes 4x) 8xAF.

Pair it up with a 3000+ and 1GB OCZ, and I'll be whoopin in no time on BF2.
