Help on creating a network

Hello, iv been having some touble creating a wireless network for my house. I have 2 laptops and everytime i use the wireless network setup wizard from XP, it never seems to work, or, sometimes i save the network setting to a flash drive and load them to both computers. Then, it says the setup was complete yet i still dont see the network if i type net view in command prompt. please help, thanks.
