Built new pc, wont boot what to do?

ok so i got a new pc and built it myself and everything...
just one problem, wont start up.
i turn on the power and the fans turn on, the hard drive spins up and thats about it.
the light on the monitor goes orange.
there is no "beep" to say weathere or not the post has completed successfully or failed.
I originally thought that it was a graphics problem, but after changing the graphics card to the other pci express slot and back i realised that its not.
i have tried removing one stick of ram, changing slots (2x 1gb sticks btw)
also tried removing all devices- hard drives etc.
also flushed bios.

any thoughts?

by plugging the a/c cord into the wall...

There was one power connector that i never noticed located to the top left of the cpu, once i connected the fitting power connector to it it worked fine
