Hello, since to play on a good computer, i need to go to my dads, and quite frankly, its annoying, cuz i cant go over, and ride a bike 1 mile every day, its stupid.

So, ive decided to save up and get some money for my own computer.

I so far have 240$ saved up, and if i sell my Paintball gun + the stuff to run it, i can get around 1000$.

And i will ask my mom and dad to donate a few hundred each, so, lets say my budget is 1500$.

Now, im wondering:

What should my set up be? Minus monitor.

Can someone give me a setup around 1000-1500$ that will be able to run games, like Halflife 2 ok/good/well.

Can you list the things and i need, plus prices?

Also, where can i build a Desktop PC at?

-2.8 ghz
-1gig ram
-9800xt
-Asus p4p800 deluxe (with lan, sound, and firewire)
-dvd rom
-dvd ram

Aim for this, i got a comp with this for 1100 a month ago, so your looking at 1000 bucks or so at the present.

If anything from this list be sure to get that mobo, its really really good, and you will save money on ethernet card sound card and firewire card. all important stuff.

i would agree with the above specs. you would probably want to try to go with an AMD processor just because they are generally better performers in games. Also, if you have the money, go with one of the new ATI cards (x800 is one of them i think?). they actually outperformed the new nvidia card (big surprise), to the point of disbelief on the part of a review i read. Asus mobo's are generally a safe bet. look around on new egg, you can always find some really great deals on some great products. also, just have fun building your new comp, i really wish i had built mine after i helped a friend with his. oh ya, also for future upgrades, a good sized PS would be helpful.

good luck

I ask cuz i have no experience builting a PC you piece of shit.

Go jack off to everquest porn.

LOL. Actually, get a processor around 2.4ghz or higher, at least 256mb DDR. Good Video card, Radeon 9200 or higher, or GeForce 5200 or Higher, make sure that the card is AGP for maximized performance. Good power supply, thats about all that I can think of.

If your budget is thight, u can try these specs.

AMD XP BARTON 2500++
2x256MB DDRSDRAM
Any motherboard that come with N-Force 2 chipset
40 GB HDD ATA133/SATA 7200RPM n 8M buffer~~~min
ATI 9600 or above~~~depends on your budget
16X DVD ROM
Intergrated sound
1.44 MB Floppy drive
If can , try get a 17" flat screen monitor

I would agree here. I'm in the same situation where I'm on a budget and I want a system good enough to play some newer games such as BT1942, NFS Underground, and others which run slow/not at all on my current setup.

I found a 2.7GHz Celeron (not a big fan of celeron, but its faster than what i have), 128MB ATI Radeon 9200, 256 DDR (which i have 384 to add), for under $700CDN.

What do you mean when you ask "Also, where can I build a desktop PC at?"? You build it yourself on your, shaggy static filled carpet. If you meant what I think you meant..........?
