DL-DVI maxes 120hz @ 1440p. HDMI 2.0 has 18Gb of bandwidth with 8/10bit overhead and 1440p 144Hz only requires 15. It should be enough. When in doubt, just use DP. They make straight through mDP to DP cables that don't require active adapters to utilize full bandwidth.

yes I bought exactly this a miniDP to DP cable handling 4K resolutions, takes forever to ship tho
