Hey im entering college and needed some advice

Ok so I bought an HP dv3 notebook with
intel Core 2 duo t6500 2mb cache
500 gig HD
4 gig Ram
and Mobile intel 4 chipset for video

Im kinda not willing to shell out too much cash but im in a bit of a dilema
i want to edit video using sony vegas and other programs i.e. autodesk revit and photoshop as well as other functions like converting videos etc.

Now i am debating whether or not to get the i7 clarksfield 6 mb cache with L3

or wait another year and get a laptop with the same processor but a better video card ...
do you think i need he card or should i save the cash and just get the processor?
thanks :)

it's not that simple, you can't just buy and upgrade the cpu in laptops like you can with desktops.

the cpu you currently have and the one you're thinking of getting (the i7) are completely different sockets.

exactly, and if your doing video editing, get a mac pro and run double OS with win7 or your choice of windows.

Thats what i use for editing, because Half my credit classes for film production utilize macs software and the other half utilize windows. Just know in the editing world(even more so every year) it seems MAC>pc

But if you stay with pc, wait another year, get a completely new laptop.
