Keyboard Doesn't work after Windows 8

I installed windows 8 on my ASUS N76VZ Laptop and installed the "keyboard filter" driver that has been updated to work with windows 8. However, every once in a while, when I turn on my laptop the keyboard doesn't work. When I roll the driver back to the driver made by microsoft the keyboard will work again, but the keyboard won't light up and none of the function commands will work. So to get those to work I re-install the driver and those things work again and the keyboard works again, but after a couple of re-boots the keyboard stops working, but stays lit up.

Any ideas what the heck is going on here?

Thanks

-Derek

Edit: I got the keyboard driver here:

http://www.service.asus.com/#!Downloads/c1wax

and I also figured out that if I uninstall the driver and then re-install it, the keyboard works again without even needing to restart.
