Firefox - Open new tabs

Under Firefox 3.5.7, is there any way in which I can configure it to open a new tab and have that tab open directly up to google.

I used a combination of two extensions, Faviconize Tab and PermaTabs Mod, to set up a permanent tab for Yahoo mail, so the same could be used for this. The tab doesn't load until it is clicked to be the active tab, but it would open up the tab on startup of Firefox. You can set as many tabs like that as you want.

Neither extension has been updated for 3.6 yet.
