Western digital my book 250gb PLEASE HELP!!!

hi,
i have bought a western digital external hard disk and i plugged it in today and all i get is a really fast flashing light, nothing else.

no noise is coming from it and the pc doesnt recognise it when i plug it in the usb. any ideas how i can get it to work or recover my data?

sounds like a bad drive. usb hdd's are fragile. try it on another computer before you send it back
