i just built a cpu based on the neo k8n platinum mobo with the onboard realtek ac97 audio.
I have used an optical out line to attach the system to my Koss home theater system which supports 6.1 speakers.
When hooked up to the computer the rear surround channel doesnt get used and indeed the utilities supplied by msi for this board only seem to support a 5.1 or 7.1 setup, not 6.1 for some reason.
Is there any way to get around this that anyone knows of?
I used windows xp home speaker setup to try to get around this, but it also doesnt seem to support a 6.1 speaker setup so that didnt help much either.
The koss ks4190 system only has inout for 1 rear, not two, so I cant add one to try to get around this.
