I am building a PC and I need some help. I am getting the ABIT AG8 motherboard and I wanted to get the Audigy 2 Value Sound Card, but after browsing some boards I saw that some onboard audio can perform quite well. I am getting the Creative Inspire T5400 5.1 speakers. Now, should I get the sound card, or use my mobo? If theres not a big difference in sound then I'll save $50 bucks and not get sound card.

ofcoz buy the sound card, cuz onboard audio uses CPU and the sound card is way better than tat. NOTE, onboard audio doesnt support 5.1 or 7.1. Unless u buy the nforce 2 GO which includes good onboard audio.

i bought tat sound card and i'm happy wif tat

So even though it says this about my onboard audio...

- On board 7.1 Channels High Definition Audio
- Professional digital audio interface supports optical S/PDIF In/Out
- 6-Channel High Definition Audio

it wont support my 5.1 system?

yes it does support it. i use it. i rarely use onboard due to my plantronics dsp500's...BUT when i do use the onboard its just fine.

maybe u can try without a new sound card first see if it will do a good job. If not, then buy a new one

Go with the sound card

I have a DFI lanparty Pro ( with onboard 7.1 sound ) and it is NO compairsion to my Audigy Sound Blaster card.
