Came home from a 3 day trip and my Dell XPS400 with Windows XP media edition. was powered down. Turned it on and got the blue screen of death with a stop error 0x0000007E. Tried to boot up in safe mode and it freezes at drivers\Mup.sys. Also have tried to boot up in recovery console and last known good config and it freezes each time. When I contacted Dell the guy at first told me he can't help me over the phone and that I need to take it to a local shop, then he proceeded to try to charge me $90 for over the phone advice that may or may not work. I've read through the microsoft fix and not sure I'll be able to accomplish any of the steps without being able to boot up in any mode what-so-ever. CPU was working fine before I went out of town. Last virus scan detected no malicious items. My wife recently installed Microsoft Office 7, and I installed an iTunes update, other than that, no changes. PLEASE HELP!!
